Is there a second chance?

When you ask yourself whether the relationship still has a chance or not, you should think carefully about the reasons that led to the break-up and whether you can eliminate those reasons. Getting back together just so you don't have to feel the pain anymore or because you miss each other so much is not a good idea. If the reasons have not been eliminated, there will be another break-up soon.

The Work can help you get closer to the answer as to whether you still have a chance. First, collect the beliefs that lead you to hope that he (or she) will come back.

Example beliefs:

  • He still loves me.

  • He only broke up with me because ...

  • It was difficult for him to break up with me, which means:

    • His decision is not final.

    • He is unsure.

    • I can still change his mind.

Write down your own beliefs and then examine them with The Work.

Also use The Work to check whether it is worthwhile to hope for a reunion.

Example beliefs:

  • Our relationship was going well.

  • We were happy.

  • Our relationship would have had a future.

  • We could have solved our problems.

  • We belong together.

  • We are perfect for each other.

  • He is the one.

  • I am the one for him.

  • A relationship with him would be best for me.

  • A relationship with me would be best for him.

  • Only with him can I be happy.

  • Only with me can he be happy.

  • Only with him can we be a happy family.

Write down your own beliefs and then examine them with The Work.
